We made about $150 this week, which is insane. Next week, we’re going to have two bake sales, one on the regular day (Tuesday), and one for Volcanopalooza (Thursday, see below). |
| Somebody’s kicking us out of our usual meeting room next week, so we’ll be meeting in the rotunda instead. After next week, we’ll go back to meeting in Lab II. |

It’s on. We’re going to have the world’s biggest baking soda/vinegar volcano in red square. Final Eruption will occur next Thursday at 12:30 pm. But there’s a lot to do before then. Tomorrow, Mikako will be schmoozing the grocery stores for supplies. There’s a work party on Sunday at Vance’s house. Leading up to final eruption, we will have a raffle. The winner gets to dump the baking soda into the vinegar AND GO DOWN IN THE HISTORY BOOKS. Tickets will be distributed to club members later to sell to the masses. In addition to the volcano, there will be volcano-themed baked goods and music. |
| Tuesday is Kids in Chemistry. If you’re signed up to demonstrate, remember to be at the Timberland Regional Library at whatever time we’re supposed to be there. |
 |
Folks started signing up to write about their favorite elements today. If you’ve got one in mind, and if it’s not already taken, sign up and you too can contribute to the CPJ. |
| If you plan to attend the Linus Pauling Symposium, we need to know. It will be on Saturday, November 17th, and we’ll be leaving around 7 am. Please RSVP by October 24th. |

This was perhaps the most controversial topic brought up today, but I know in my heart that the nay-sayers will come around. Yes, some of us are going to dress in bikinis, lab coats, and goggles (even the guys) and pose for what promises to be the best 2008 poster money can buy. No, this is not a joke. Yes, I’m on the special committee. So start thinking about how you’d like to contribute and whether you have the gusto to doff your daily duds for the greater good. |
