January 30, 2008

CAREERS IN CHEMISTRY: Don’t forget that this event is happening next Thursday. We’ll be meeting at the loop and leaving campus at 11:30. If you want to go, make sure you’ve turned in your full name, A#, and email address.

RESUME WORKSHOP: This will happen on Wednesday the 6th, at 1:30 (after the meeting), in the CAL.

BAKESALES: We made around $100 this Tuesday and will be having another bakesale on Thursday.

DWINDLING CHOCOLATE: Only 2 boxes left. So close!

NEW ORLEAN: An announcement will be made Friday or some time this weekend about who’s accepted. Good luck!

RAFFLE: We still need donations. If you have the time and gumption, check out which businesses have been visited on the list located on the network (I gave directions in an earlier email), and go to a few that haven’t been visited. We’d like to wrap this up by next week.

KIDS IN CHEMISTRY: On Wednesday morning of week 9, from 9AM-12:30PM, we’ll be hosting a Kids in Chemistry event. The exact location will be posted later. The theme is climate change. If you have any ideas about easy, cool demonstrations, let us know.

CHOCOLATE FACTORY: We’ll be visiting the chocolate factory on February 16th, from 7PM-8:30PM, in Seattle.

VOLCANO: It’s a long way off, but we will have fire dancers to accompany our volcano.

SCIENCE CARNIVAL: We have specific dates- May 30th and 31st

ESSAY CONTEST: I have completed a draft of the flyer and ad for the CPJ. The flyers will go up Tuesday (after the boards are cleared), and the ad will go in the CPJ on the 7th. Apart from that, I just have to get my panel of judges together.

CLIMATE CHANGE GRANTS: $400 grants are available from the ACS for a climate change-related project. We should think of something and apply.

STREAM PROJECT: There’s an adopt-a-stream contest. We talked about adopting Snyder Creek (the primary drainage for TESC) and involving the Montessori school.

MOVIES: Alex suggested showing some movies in the lecture halls. Any input would be much appreciated.
