RAFFLE DONATIONS (OR LACK THEREOF): Nobody’s going to buy a ticket for the sake of buying a ticket; college students aren’t that generous. So we need prizes, and-because we’re poor-they have to be donated. But nothing’s going to be donated unless we ask for it. So please let us know if you would be willing to visit a few downtown businesses. There’s a list of which ones have and haven’t been visited (go to scicomp.evergreen.edu, click on Remote File Access, click on Groups, click on Chemisrty (sic.) Club, go to the directory for 2007-2008, and go to the directory for Raffle info). If you think of one that’s not on there, add it. You will need paperwork, and you can get it from Mikako. |
| BAKESALES: Thursday bakesales WILL NOT begin week 3. We will have them starting week 4. | |

VALENTINES: Leading up to Valentines Day, we will sell valentines with chemistry-related phrases on them (“Let’s bond” etc.) and cookies/candy attached to them. We’ll start making these soon. |

SOCIAL EVENTS: Any ideas? We need both events just for the club and events that involve folks outside the club. CAKE WALK: Come hell or high water, we’re going to host a cake walk on Valentine’s Day. In case you don’t know, a cake walk is like musical chairs, but the winner gets a cake. This will entail a lot of planning (where it will be, what music to play, which chairs to use, and how big the cake will be). KARAOKE: Do we want to do this? LAB OLYMPICS: This is still a pretty nebulous concept, but we’re working on it. A group of people (faculty? lab techs? unlucky students?) will compete in a series of lab-related tasks. Um… more on this later. COMMITTEES: As you can see, we have a lot of stuff planned, and it’s going to be hard to get it done without some degree of organization. We’re going to create committees for the most labor intensive/complicated projects. This way, members can focus on specific projects, and-hopefully-no one will be left wondering what to do. Today, committees were created for: New and improved volcano Darwin’s birthday essay contest Valentines cakewalk If you would like more information or know which one you want to join, let me know; they desperately need people. CHOCOLATE: If you are willing to sell chocolate, email Dharshi (bopegedt@evergreen.edu) and arrange a time to go by her office. WINDOW!!!: We are quickly running out of time to plan for the window, which we will have for the entire month of February. If you have any ideas or would like to lend a hand, let us know. |
